5 Tips on Starting Your World of Warcraft Adventures by Morgan Jacob
With the release of The Burning Crusade, World of Warcraft has become an even more popular MMORPG than it was before. There are new lands to discover, new character races, and an expansion of the adventure so many people are experiencing.
One of the hardest things about starting an MMORPG is understanding what to do from the start. I am going to give you the top 5 Noobie Tips you will need to know when joining World of Warcraft for the first time.
1. Quests.
Make sure to accept and finish all of the quests in the Noobie zones. In most cases, these quests will lead you to the next "appropriate" zone for you to be leveling in. This will save you a lot of time. You will not have to be stuck in a zone too high for your level, "body chasing" every five minutes when you die.
2. "Body Chasing"
When you die in World of Warcraft, your body remains where your death occurred, and you are transported as a spirit to the "Spirit Healer". From here you want to locate your body on the mini-map and make a run for it. The other option is to ressurect at the Spirit Healer, causing 25% damage to all of your equipment. You will also have weakness, and your max health and mana will be about 50% until this wears out. When you run to your body, you avoid the weakness penalty. The first few times of dying are "freebies". You will only receive the damage to your equipment, and not the weakness penalty.
3. Sell Everything!
Until at least level 6 you should sell everything that you get. Your bag space is limited, and you will need the money to train in the new skills that are offered each even level. After your first quest, sell off any items you have received, and go see the trainer for your specific class. Many people fail to notice that the trainer has an available skill for you from the start, but you need copper to learn it. To sell your items, visit a vendor in the starting town. You will see a money bag replace your cursor when you hover over an NPC that acts as a vendor.
4. Find a Friend
You can fly through the Noobie zone with a friend helping to complete the quests. In some of the quests you need to kill a certain amount of monsters, and when you are with a friend, what they kill will be added to your counts, and vice versa.
5. Have Fun!
Run around and explore, discovering the entire map for the area you are in. This will help when you need to find a certain place on your map to complete a quest.
One tip, that is more advice than anything, is that you should use the resources around you. If you are in a city, and you don't know where to go, ask a guard. They will have options to choose from and will mark your map with the destination. So many people yell for help when they can save time and frustration asking a guard for help.
